High Desert recycling is located in Fernley Nevada, a major truck and rail distribution center located 30 miles east of Reno on interstate 80. Since June of 2000, High Desert has provided recycling services to the greater northern Nevada area. Our account base consists of printers, converters, private and government offices, state and federal prisons and hospitals, and the warehousing and distribution businesses that make up the bulk of generation of corrugated cardboard throughout this portion of the state.
The plant leases 68000 square feet in a state of the art high stud warehouse with drive in doors, loading docks and an 8-car rail siding serviced by both Burlington Northern and Union Pacific railroads. High Desert operates 3 roll off trucks which haul self-contained compactors, stationary compactors and open top containers. Two tractor trailers, a box truck, and a fleet of trailers make up the balance of our rolling stock. The plant operates 6 days a week to meet the service requirements of our account base.
At present High Desert has 17 employees, 4 forklifts, and a full fabrication and mechanical repair shop.
Tonnage for the plant is secured through long-term contracts which are backed up with the installation of site-specific equipment provided by High Desert Recycling to meet the needs of the various types of generators of recyclable materials whom we service. In addition to providing and installing both vertical and horizontal balers, along with conveyors and air systems for the collection of scrap within the confines of our accounts' properties, we have created approximately 30 compactor installations ranging from a standard, simple exterior application to those that have been custom designed with sealed walk-out enclosures, material delivery chutes, cart dumpers, etc... 100% of design, fabrication, delivery and installation is done by in-house mechanics whose range of skills can easily meet the particular needs of any desired application.
In addition to providing a comprehensive range of recycling services, High Desert has been doing both confidential document shredding and guaranteed product destruction for the standard office environments in the metropolitan Reno area, and for our warehouse and distribution clients who have hard goods which must be destroyed rather than merely landfilled.
As a division of American Shredding we offer full service shredding within a locked and secured area of our work space. As with any American Shredding division, comprehensive insurance and bonding is in effect at all times. Our pledge of confidential document destruction is backed up by complete shredding and recycling services, along with NAID-approved Certificates of Destruction provided with each and every destruction job handled.
Using either our shredder or our large-capacity widemouth hogging American Baler, High Desert can render virtually any physical product unusable. In addition to books, toys, electronic components, electronic media and the like, we have destroyed products from the medical industry, manufacturers of gaming equipment, and light metal products so that items can be neither sold on the aftermarket nor reused. All work done in regard to product destruction is backed up by the same protocols of confidentiality offered to generators of office, business, and medical records.
Along with recycling paper, plastic, semi-precious metal, document destruction, and product destruction we also provide transloading services to a variety of customers, trucking materials to our facility, off-loading and storing them, and then shipping out consolidated loads via rail or truck. We are able to provide specific services to a variety of businesses to accommodate this highly sought-after service at a reasonable and affordable rate.
